Yesterday, 11 students from choir competed at UIL Solo and Ensemble Competition held at Hays High School. Students learned and memorized a challenging vocal solo and performed their piece before a judge. The following 10 students received a Superior Rating (the best score) on their Class 1 (most difficult level) solos:
- Camila Gutierrez (11th grade)
- Sloan Handley (11th grade)
- Josie Mau (12th grade)
- Kyndal Miethke (12th grade)
- Alyssa Nimocks (12th grade)
- Kate Nolen (10th grade)
- Alyssa Schaefer (12th grade)
- Portia Schaeffer-Preston (10th grade)
- Cole Thomas (10th grade)
- Claire Tole (12th grade)
Isaiah Hoffman (10th grade) competed and earned an Excellent Rating on his Class 1 vocal solo.
“Most of these students study private voice, and their voice teachers should also be commended for their students’ success last night,” choir teacher Courtney Aguilar said.
These students are now eligible to participate in the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Competition, which will be held virtually in May.
