On Tuesday, March 3, the Greater Austin High School Musical Theater Awards (GAHSMTA) were announced at the Stateside Theater in Austin. These awards are like Austin’s high school version of the Tony Awards, aiming to celebrate musical theater excellence.
Dripping Springs was nominated for a total of eleven awards for the production of Anything Goes. A total of 33 schools are a part of the 2019-2020 season.

- BEST PRODUCTION
- BEST CHOREOGRAPHY
- BEST LIGHTING DESIGN
- BEST COSTUME DESIGN
- BEST SCENIC DESIGN
- BEST DIRECTION
- BEST ENSEMBLE
- BEST ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE: Katie Haberman as “Reno Sweeney” (Katie previously WON this category as a sophomore playing “Wednesday Addams” in The Addams Family)
- BEST ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE: Ryan McCartney as “Billy Crocker” (previously nominated for “Seymour” in last year’s Little Shop of Horrors)
- BEST ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE: Austin Harper as “Moonface Martin”
- BEST ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE: Claire Tole as “Erma LaTour”
Theater students will also one of eight schools of the best production nominees to perform a musical as part of the award ceremony. GAHSMTA awards will be on April 15 at the Dell Hall in Austin.
Additionally, the following students will represent DSHS as part of the Select Ensemble (they perform at events throughout the year, as well as during the Awards):
