Everyone knows that the summer is the time to go to the beach, but where should you go?
Spring Lake on the Jersey Shore is one great option for anyone who loves a traditional beach town with tons of Victorian homes. The beach itself was very well kept with beach volleyball courts showing up frequently along the sand. The waves are a decent size, however the shallow water allows for relaxing in the waves as well.
Also, if you’re looking for a place to enjoy the beauty of the beach, Spring Lake has a boardwalk all along its beach that you can walk along and enjoy the seaside. The boardwalk also allows bikers to ride for a certain time in the morning. Spring Lake being a beach town is very bike accessible.
Another plus Spring Lake offers is that being in New Jersey, it allows for an easy bonus trip to New York City. With a quick one hour drive to a train station, you can get from the beach to the Big Apple in less than two hours.
The town itself is a true colonial beach town, with a nice downtown which offers plenty of sweet shops and restaurants.
There are a couple downsides though, the water in the beach takes some getting used to as it can be pretty chilly. Also, the weather is a little unpredictable with some frequent scattered showers.
Overall the experience of Spring Lake made it the second beach on my list behind only Maui, Hawaii.
