Dripping Springs High School’s Tiger Shack will be selling single roses and bouquets to the student body and community through Feb. 13 to be delivered to students on Valentine’s Day.
“This is going to give the floral design students real hands-on experience on everything from the processing of the flowers, doing inventory, creating the arrangements, and even delivering the arrangements,” Christy Trussell, Principles of Floral Design teacher, said.
The Principles of Floral Design and Principles of Business classes will be teaming up for this project.
“It’s a great collaboration with the business classes because they are helping us maximize marketing and profit potential,” Trussell said.
Principles of Business students will be in charge of advertising and selling the floral arrangements.
“We are collaborating with the business classes because floral design actually falls under the career and technology academy as does the business classes, so we thought that was a natural relationship,” Trussell said.
Floral Design students will be fully involved in the creation and delivery of each floral arrangement.
“It’s very interesting. I love learning how to arrange the flowers and put them together color-wise,” sophomore Brandon Amaya said.
Students may choose to purchase a single rose, a double rose, or half a dozen for their close friends or special someone.
“I think it’s an exciting proposition for students too because this is their chance to buy a single rose for a friend or for someone that they want to get to know better to show how much they love and care for them on Valentine’s Day,” Trussell said.
