The Student Council will take the lead on a school, district and community-wide initiative to collect money and supplies in support of hurricane relief efforts. They have partnered with the Austin Disaster Relief Network and have already reached out to the city, the elementary and middle schools, and local active churches. They plan to reach out to neighborhoods and businesses to promote our efforts.
STUCO’s goal is to make a significant charitable push this week while the current events are still fresh in everyone’s mind.
Currently planned activities:
1) Classes (sophomore, junior and senior) will be collecting specific items by class throughout the week.
2) Thursday morning, Student Council will conduct a “fill the boot” donation drive before school for parents dropping off their students at the front of the building.
3) Friday all day, Parking Lot B is set aside for delivery of community donations.
4) At the football game on Saturday, they will be collecting supplies and cash donations at the gates. They will also be asking groups that sell fundraising items at the game to consider donating 10% of the sales to the effort.
