WRESTLING HEADS TO STATE.
On Friday, girls soccer won their first state title. Sports Editor and Online Editor-in-Chief Cady Russell was on the scene and has complied a photo story of the historic event. Visit mydshs.com for more photos.

LADY TIGERS TAKE STATE: For the first time ever the Lady Tiger girls soccer program has won state, defeating Wakeland 2-1, with goals by sophomore Riley Sisson and freshman Taylor Hodsden, the team is the 5A State Champions. “Oh it was exhilarating,” Sisson said. “It was hard work from everyone. I was just the one to finish it, and I love my team so much. It was an incredible game to play in.” Incredible is right. With three yellow cards for DSHS and two for Wakeland, it was an equal match, with athletic and strong players. And after losing in the state semifinals two years ago, and then losing playoffs to COVID-19 last year, it feels extra special. “I don't even know how to feel right now. We've worked two years for this, and I'm just so proud of our team,” senior Charleigh Phipps said. But the team isn’t just bringing back team hardware, sophomore goalie Caroline Dill was awarded tournament MVP. “I just feel like a lot of support to my team and my family and their families,” Dill said. In all, the historic game, the first state championship game ever played by the Lady Tiger girls soccer program, ends in the best way, the state title.
