Six Dripping Springs High School students have been named to the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) 5A All-State Band for 2016-17. All-state honors are determined by the results at Area auditions, where individual musicians perform selected music for a panel of judges who rank each instrument. Only the top 3 percent of musicians who initially audition become All-State musicians.
Selections from Dripping Springs High School are:
Johnny Dollard, trumpet
David Garcia, clarinet
Erika Gossett, flute
Eli McIntire-Gavkick, bassoon
Michael Rolan, baritone saxophone
Kassandra Sawin, bass clarinet
This is the second consecutive year Gossett has earned all-state recognition.
All-state musical groups will perform for music educators, family members, and the public at the 2017 TMEA Convention, held in San Antonio’s Lila Cockrell Theater Feb. 11. Prior to their performances, students will participate in two days of clinics and rehearsals with some of the best high school musicians in the state.
