The following students were selected to compete at the Capitol Congressional Debate competition at the Texas State Capitol on December 1 – Max Bibeau, Kaitlyn Burk, Dylan Farr, Campbell Melton, Mason Mohon and Griffin Smith. The students competed with 120 students from across the state of Texas. Sophomore Max Bibeau advanced to the top parliamentary chamber (top 20 students) and was recognized as a finalist in the awards ceremony and presented with a gavel.
On Saturday, DSHS students competed at the Bandera University Interscholastic League Invitational (UIL) speech and debate tournament. Sophomore Christian Pundt and freshman Christian Gearing competed in numerous debate rounds, debating the merits of economic and diplomatic engagement with China. These students advanced to the quarter final round in policy debate.
