As the Lady Tiger basketball season comes to a close, members of the team have started to reflect on the lessons learned, memories made, and bonds strengthened.
For Laura Joiner, head coach of the Lady Tigers, the season had its highs and lows.
“Our goal was to be a playoff team, but we came up a little bit short,” Joiner said. “However, I think one of the highlights out of the season was that all three teams tremendously improved over the year and the season.”
Coach Joiner also said another major highlight of the season was just witnessing the unity between the players.
“The team chemistry we had within our program was amazing to see,” Joiner said. “The teamwork and the togetherness really stood out.”
Joiner, despite not making the playoffs, thinks that the team’s unity is something the players are content with and won’t be going away anytime soon.
“I think the girls really enjoyed the journey,” Joiner said. “I think it is something we can build off of and that will help us in the future.”
For Lady Tiger senior, Amanda O’Bannon, unity was a huge theme of the season.
“My teammates are my best friends off the court,” O’Bannon said. “I wouldn’t know some of my really good friends had I not been on the team, so I’m glad to have them because they are some of the best people I know.”
For a lucky few, like O’Bannon, the real adventure has just begun.
“Right now I’m looking to play at either Concordia or Southwestern,” O’Bannon said. “I’m still in the process of looking into my options, but I’m going to play somewhere.”
